My Sick Boy

Today is Day Three of the Sick Boy at Home.

Over the weekend he developed the sniffles and a bit of a cough. We laid low except for church. Monday morning I decided to let him sleep and kept him home from school. By afternoon he seemed to be more like himself. So Tues morning we got up and off to school he went. By mid morning he had spiked a fever and the school was calling me to come pick him up.

Tues afternoon and evening his symptoms abated and he looked like he was on the mend again. But not wanting a repeat of Tuesday, I waffled whether to send him to school or keep him home. After hearing him coughing in the early hours, I made my decision to keep him home again.

Today has been more of the same: sniffles, a little cough once in awhile, lots of cartoons and lots of liquids.

The hard thing about Joe being sick is that he rarely acts sick. He doesn't lie on the couch, moaning or napping. If you didn't hear him hacking or have to wipe his nose you'd barely know he was sick.

I'm really hoping he gets to feeling better. With no school on Friday, if he doesn't go to school on Thursday he will have missed almost the whole week.

I'm keeping up with the laundry, the dishes and the meals, but I'd really like to get back to my writing. Kind of hard to do when Dinosaur Train is on in the background!

Thankfully, #1 son doesn't get sick often. Just part of the challenges of being 'mom', right?

Til next time .....

Labor Day Bust

Spending the day in bed nursing a sore-throat and inflamed sinus's was not how I envisioned Labor Day. But there's no use fighting it when you're sick. So instead of rearranging furniture with the hubster, spending time at the river beach or going into town for one last summer flick, I spent the day napping and reading "The Last Detective".

I'm still battling the throat tho it feels better today than yesterday.

So what did you do on your holiday?

Til next time ....

Do You Ever ...

wonder where the week has gone? #1 son was sick most of this week, and that has just shot my week to "you know where". I have so wanted to post. I missed WFW yesterday, and I have 2 new frugal posts half done. I spent 2 wasted hours trying to burn some discs--my computer refused to cooperate ... sigh. So its been one of those weeks.

But I have been able to visit bloggyland and catch up with the rest of you. For which I am thankful.

See ya soon!

Sick Day

I have a sick little boy at home today. He was coughing, feverish, and sneezing over the weekend, so we laid low. Didn't even make it to church. This morning we didn't wake him up for school, and he slept and slept and slept! This is highly unusual. Especially since with his dx his body produces less melatonin than the rest of us, and he normally needs meds to help him get to sleep and stay asleep! It is now 11:50am and he finally woke up.

I have some blog posts in the works, so as I get time to work on them, in between caring for my sick one, you'll be seeing them. Soon, I hope.

Til then ....

PS: for those of you who have inquired, we should be hearing later this month whether Joe will be recieving his special bike. Stay tuned.

Thanks for Praying

Thanks for praying for me this weekend. I started feeling better yesterday, and today feel like I'm back to my ol' self. Except for the fact that we didn't get much sleep. Everyone went to bed on time, but the hubster woke up at 2:30am and got up. Then #1 son woke up shortly before 4am. He kept stirring, so I got him up, changed him and tried to snuggle him back to sleep. Didn't work. So we watched 'toons for awhile. I think I finally decided I was up for good around 5:30am.

We went to church which was good. And I didn't even fall asleep during the message. Once we got home tho, the hubster and I hit the napzone. We turned on some cartoons for #1 son, sandwiched him in between us in our king size bed, and while he watched spongebob squarepants and other mindnumbing visual treats, the hubster and I napped.

So I'm ready for a new week. As promised I have a post almost ready to go. And several others swirling in my head, just waiting for my fingers to have some time to flit over the keys.

Til then, have a wonderful day, peeps!

I'm Sick of Being Sick

I'm so sick of being sick. It started out with a tickle in my throat and a cough and has now grown into alternating chills and fever, aches, and headache along with the afore mentioned symptoms. On top of that, my #1 son started throwing up last night. After a couple hours of that, and several changes of clothes and linens he was able to sleep.

The bummer is that I have a great post that I want to finish and share with you, but it is going to have to wait til I feel better. There are no creative thoughts in my brain at the moment. I'm headed back to bed.

Any prayers would be appreciated. See ya on the other side, peeps!

sick child, sick mom

our #1 son has been threatening all week to be sick. you know, the almost runny nose, whiny attitude, tired off and on. well, this morning he had the fullblown ick, so dad/hubby let him sleep and me too. we finally woke up after 9am when the phone rang. we kept the poor guy home. he spent the majority of the day in bed and didn't want b'fast or lunch. now that its almost dinnertime he's starting to feel better and i'm feeling like i've got the crud. since our son is nonverbal we often have to guess what he's feeling, but if i come down with the same i can usually hazard a pretty acurate guess. headache-- check! sinus congestions-- check! fever -- check! aches -- check! so i think i'm going to bed early tonite. and maybe i'll have something wonderful for my blog readers tomorrow. goodnite!

sick day # 2

the school called yesterday morning. so i went and picked up joe and brought him home. he has a nasty deep cough and a runny nose. he was lethargic until about 5pm. today he woke up with the same symptoms. sigh ...

why does my life stand still when there's a sick child at home? i'm barely keeping up with the laundry, dishes, and putting healthy meals on the table. every thing else is on hold while the man-child is snuggling under the covers watching cartoons.

so until the man-child is on the mend and back at school, the Christmas shoppe, the writing nook, the blogger stuff will all be on hold.

hope all your family members are healthy this day!
