Night or Nite? Thru or Through?

Well, it has come to my attention that if I want to be a serious blogger, I need to clean up my spelling and grammar. I do know how to spell. I was an English major after all. But all these years, I have written using no capitals unless I was referencing the Lord God. It was a unique identifier that I enjoyed, along with mispelling a few chosen words. But now, I must act like the professional writer I hope to become. Sigh ....

Now, maybe my husband, mother and brother will be able to read my blog without cringing. My husband recently told me he was boycotting my blog as it just hurt too much to read it. The trials, we creative types, have to put up with!

If I slip back into my old habits, don't hate me for it. Just know I'm a recovering individualist who likes to be unusual. Guess I'll have to find some other unique identifier now. Maybe I could create a brand new language??? No, too taxing and time consuming. If you think of anything creative, let me know. Maybe we'll start a brand new trend together.

When I first started reading your blog, the no capital letters and stuff really bothered me because I have always been a stickler for written English rules as I had some great teachers who drove it into me. It was like my brain couldn't read it without stopping at each "mistake"! But somewhere along the way I stopped noticing it - amazing! In fact I even looked back at yesterday's blog to see when you changed. So I think we can really adjust more than we realize! However, if you weren't my cousin and if I didn't want to read your blog so much, I do realize that I probably would not have put in the effort it used to require. So interesting!

Gail, this made me laugh because I've definitely noticed your, um, creative spelling! =) I was an English major, too, and like Joy, I can be a stickler about grammar and spelling.

this is so interesting to me that so many people have trouble with creative, um, grammar!

i think i picked this up in jr high when i read something by e.e. cummings and another author who had all their stuff published in no caps. so i thot i'd do it too. guess i'm not famous enough to get away with it! hee hee

thanks for the comments. and the encouragement to, er, "grow up"!

Hi, Gail!

I have so enjoyed reading your blog! (and the other one as well!) I liked reading your 100 things about me.

We really liked "Taken." We also have begun watching the show 24. AH! It has been addicting!

Know what you mean about the grammar....I tend to overuse !!!!!! points!!! ....and I enjoy..........

.....oh well! :)

I look forward to getting to know you better, Gail!

Blessings,
Tracy

I was thinking about this again and I'm wondering if I could even write without punctuation if I wanted to! I think my typing fingers just put them in automatically these days!
